Description
We are so excited to share this workshop with you… the afternoon is an immersion of mindfulness and creativity via two unique and fascinating techniques that both originate from Japan.
Sarah Officer, floral designer for Ashby Flowers will introduce you to the centuries old art form of Ikebana, Japanese floral arrangement. This art form encourages a deep appreciation of the beauty of the living world through simplicity and mindful practice. In this workshop you will create your own Spring inspired basic Ikebana arrangement to take home & the tools and the skills to practice the art of Ikebana at home.
Amanda from The Clay Circle will introduce you to the art of Kurinuki where clay is carved away to reveal an object of beauty. Inspired by this technique you’ll create a vessel to use for future Ikebana arrangements. A vessel will be provided for the workshop with an option to purchase, the actual piece you make will be left at The Clay Circle to be fired so it is functional and can be enjoyed for years to come. You’ll be notified within 4 weeks to arrange collection or if needed postage.
Adam and Alison from The Gin Distillery are always on board to deliver their award winning gin infused cocktails. We’ll leave the choices up to them but guaranteed the two cocktails they’ll provide each of us will be delicious! It’s no problem to opt for a mock-tail if that’s your preferred choice. And don’t forget they’ll still be open when the workshop finishes if you want to go & checkout their space, it’s literally a hop skip and a jump around the corner.
